You kids pay attention, now
Not one to cut corners, Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante laid out his guitar practice regimen for us in a recent interview.

Explaining that he habitually plays along with other artists records, Frusciante recently "learned all The Smiths' songs -- everything Johnny Marr did. I learned all of John McGeoch's stuff in Magazine and Siouxsie & The Banshees. I learned stuff by XTC. I was trying to learn the technical high-end players of the new wave scene.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers may be into yet another victory lap in the wake of their latest hit album By The Way.

But guitarist John Frusciante's work won't be done until he finishes the album's "spiritual companion piece" -- namely, a solo project he began work on at the same time.
