Furtado, Missy Elliott cut duet
By PAUL CANTINSenior Reporter, JAM! Showbiz

Victoria, B.C.-born chart topper Nelly Furtado has recorded a duet with hip-hop superstar Missy Elliott, JAM! Music has learned.

Furtado's spokesman David Oey said that the duet, on a new version of Elliott's "Get UR Freak On," was supposed to be kept under tight wraps, but he confirmed that the track has been recorded.

"It's an incredible track," Oey said Friday.

"It shows a whole other dimension to Nelly."

The collaboration happened after Elliott and her producer, Timbaland, contacted Furtado and invited her to come record the song in Los Angeles.

"Missy and Timbaland are big, huge fans of Nelly," Oey said.

The only question mark surrounding the duet is where it will surface. Oey said he couldn't confirm whether the song would appear as a B-side or on a film soundtrack.

Elliott's original, Nelly-less version of the track is her current single. Her new album, "Miss E ... So Addictive," is due in stores May 15. (More on: Nelly Furtado)
