Whoa, Richard.

A member of Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado's road crew has been arrested after allegedly threatening to hijack a Royal Airlines plane.

Police charged monitor technician Richard Hagan, 33, with mischief after he allegedly told the airline's staff he was going to hijack the Toronto flight at 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

"All references to hijacking are taken very seriously," said Winnipeg police Staff Sgt. Rick Brereton.

Police were called and the flight was delayed for 20 minutes while the man's luggage was removed.

Hagan was recently hired by Furtado's management company, Chris Smith Management. He is a family man who doesn't drink or party, Furtado's manager Chris Smith said in a telephone interview from Toronto yesterday.

"We're not supporting any type of wrongdoing and Nelly is truly disturbed by the whole thing," Smith said.

"Rich is a nice guy and it's shocking. This could cost Rich his job. It's really serious."
