Sum41, Furtado top MMVA fan categories

Nelly Furtado, Our Lady Peace, Barenaked Ladies, and Sum41 lead the nominations for MuchMusic's People's Choice nominees for this year's MuchMusic Video Awards.

Furtado's "I'm Like A Bird" is nominated as Fave Canadian Artist and Fave Video By A Canadian. Our Lady Peace's "In Repair" and Barenaked Ladies "Too Little Too Late" are nominated for Fave Video By A Canadian and Fave Canadian Group.

Newcomers Sum41 are up for Fave Canadian Group and Fave Video By A Canadian for "Fat Lip/Pain For Pleasure." Eminem and Dido, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Nelly and The St. Lunatics, and Shaggy are up for Fave International Artist.

Fans can vote for their favorites by going to the station's website, www.muchmusic.com, or by calling 1-800-226-VOTE.

The awards will be telecast live on Sept. 23 starting at 7 p.m. ET.
