Album Review: Giant Sand

CHORE OF ENCHANTMENT
By FISH GRIWKOWSKY

CHORE OF ENCHANTMENT
Giant Sand
(Thrill Jockey)

Those aware enough to have picked up the paper on New Year's Day may remember that this disc has already been discussed in this section (go to www.canoe.ca/JamAlbumsG/ giantsand_choreofen.html for the original review).

However, that was when this was an almost impossible-to-find import, Giant Sand having been madly dropped from V2.

Re-signed to Thrill Jockey, you can now buy it anywhere.

 And you should.

So let this simply serve as a friendly reminder: nail it to your forehead - this is a great album, full of catchy riffs and helped out by the sweet kitten-like Juliana Hatfield's purr. (Giant Sand is coming on April 22 to the Likwid Lounge, incidentally, swaggering with the promise of southern stage slithering.)

Don't let Chore of Enchantment, one second short of a full hour, evade you.
