Go-Betweens singer McLennan dies

Grant McLennan, singer-songwriter with the acclaimed '80s Australian group the Go-Betweens, has died, the BBC reports. He was 48.

McLennan died on Saturday after complaining of feeling ill at his home in Brisbane, Australia.

The Go-Betweens, who formed in 1977, released a series of influential albums in the 1980s before the band split in 1989. Some of their most notable songs included "Bachelor Kisses" and "Through the Streets of Your Town."

McLennan released four solo albums in the '90s before the band reformed in 2000 for four more albums, including "That Striped Sunlight Sound" in January.

He is survived by his mother, sister, brother and girlfriend.
