GOOD MORNING REVIVAL
Very Good Morning

Good Charlotte
Good Morning Revival
(Daylight-Epic/Sony BMG)

It's another new morning for Good Charlotte. But whether it's gonna be a good one depends on how adaptable and accommodating their fans are.

For their fourth full-length Good Morning Revival, the Madden twins and the rest of this Maryland outfit have once again changed their tune big-time, expanding beyond their pop-punk borders with everything from punchy dance-rock grooves to sweeping, Coldplayish piano balladry.

The former comes in the form of hard-grooving tracks like the aptly titled Dance Floor Anthem and Keep Your Hands Off My Girl.

The latter arrives adorned with lush strings and poignant piano on Where Would We Be Now. Meanwhile, All Black, Something Else and Beautiful Place respectively add emo, Everclear-style post-grunge and jangly U2 pop to the mix.

Thankfully, it doesn't add up to a departure as drastic or dramatic as that of 2004's over-reaching concept album Chronicles of Life and Death. And there are a couple of suitably punchy hookfests like Misery, Broken Hearts Parade and first single The River -- featuring cameos by Avenged Sevenfold's singer and guitarist -- to placate the faithful.

Really, though, it's clear that Joel, Benji and co. are far more interested in moving forward than reviving their past over and over again.

And that's ultimately a good thing, whether or not the fans agree.
