After the scream, comes the whisper.

Both are powerful.

Blues legend Buddy Guy had the house a-rockin' with 2001's savage, blood-curdling Sweet Tea -- a monumental album in the sexagenarian's career that took its name from the Oxford, Mississippi studio where it was recorded.

So consider the simply yet aptly titled Blues Singer -- Sweet Tea Pt. 2: The Acoustic Sessions.

Recorded in the same studio, with the same producer the album features Guy showing his quiet, bluesman settin' on the porch side.

It's a subdued affair, filled out with guest accompaniment by B.B. King and Eric Clapton, among others.

Luckily, Guy throws the same energy into these more simplistic, unplugged performances as the electric ones -- it's just as palpable.

Be it covering John Lee Hooker's -- whom the album is dedicated to -- Crawlin' Kingsnake or Willie Dixon's I Love the Life I Live or Johnny Shines' Moanin' and Groanin', there's an incredible amount of intensity and passion captured in the recordings.

All this means is that whichever Guy it is -- electric or acoustic -- that shows up to the Calgary Roots and Blues Festival in August, we're in for a treat. (More on Buddy Guy.)
