CALGARY - The boys of Hedley are trying to keep their pants on in anticipation of this weekend's Juno Awards.
Frontman Jacob Hoggard says while he may be known for a tendency to remove his pants at will -- whether it be on stage, as well as the red carpet -- the band will try to keep it relatively PG-rated during the tomorrow night's broadcast of the 2008 Juno Awards. "We're going to reveal thundering intellect instead," says Hoggard.
Hedley is nominated for a Juno in the category of Group of the Year, they will be one of the performing acts during the show. "If we don't win we're going to kill ourselves," says Hoggard with a serious look in his eye. "For me it's something that I can have to make my parents refer to me only as the Juno Award-winning Jacob Hoggard as opposed to son."
The melodramatic rocker is kidding of course, but admits that he's ready to take home a statue.
The band has been nominated for several Junos in the past, and while the nods were gladly accepted, Hoggard says he's ready to take home a trophy. "Right now I'm happy with Juno nominee, which is really great and all my family is great with that... But, we do want to win," he says.
Hedley's 2005 self-titled album was the most successful domestic rock debut release of the year reaching nearly double-platinum status in Canada.
Hedley has been nominated for six Juno Awards since 2006, including this year's nomination for their recent release, Famous Last Words.
Hedley is up against Arcade Fire, Blue Rodeo, Finger Eleven, and Kain. The band will perform during the broadcast of the 2008 Juno Awards in Calgary tomorrow night.
