With his acclaimed new album, Tiny Voices, Joe Henry has taken another interesting turn in a career filled with interesting turns. And yet the L.A.-based singer/songwriter sees his atmospheric, jazz-tinged new work as a natural evolution from the rock, folk and country in his past.
"Every time I make a record, I think, 'Boy, this is a really wild one,' " he says. "But by the time I'm finished, I'm thinking, 'What did I think was so wild about this? It's the most natural thing in the world.' And it really seems like this is the only record I could make right now."
