Country music crossover artist Faith Hill says she wanted to have Aerosmith's Steven Tyler do a duet with her on the title track from her latest album, Cry.
"I never called him myself," Hill told The Sun last week when she was in Toronto. "I didn't want to put him in the position of having to turn me down when I was on the line. When I heard Cry for the first time, I heard his voice on it. It just sounded like him to me. We tried to make it work out. It didn't work out."
This is possibly a good thing, considering Hill's eldest daughter Gracie, who is five, is obsessed with Tyler.
"I think she likes his voice," said Hill. "She's a music girl. At five years old, we can really see it in her. She likes his sound. And she likes the way he looks, which is interesting. It doesn't scare me really, because we try and control it to some degree. But I'm glad she likes good artists. It's important, especially if she's a musical person. But she does listen to Aerosmith a lot.
I like that she has all these different tastes. You know who else she likes? Edith Piaf! She's definitely an old soul."
Meanwhile, another rocker, Pink, provided If You're Gonna Fly Away for Cry, which just debuted at No. 3 in Canada and No. 1 in the U.S.
