Faith Hill was the latest challenger to suffer defeat at the hands of the Black Eyed Peas on the Canadian album charts.
The country superstar's album "Fireflies" premiered at No. 2 on sales of 12,000, behind the Peas' "Monkey Business" (13,000) which remained at No. 1 for a sixth straight week, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
The debut marks the best ever Canadian chart position for Faith Hill, however, her album "Cry," which came in at No. 3 in October of 2002, sold 20,000 copies in its first week of release.
Hill did snag the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling 329,000 copies of "Fireflies" in the U.S., according to Billboard.com.
Back in Canada, Coldplay's "X&Y" (10,000) and Green Day's "American Idiot" both fell to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while The Killers' "Hot Fuss" hung on to the No. 5 position.
Jack Johnson's "In Between Dreams" moved up two spots to No. 6, Gwen Stefani's "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" dropped three to No. 7, and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" fell one to No. 8.
Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" claimed the No. 9 spot, switching places with the Foo Fighters' "In Your Honor," which rounded out the Top 10 at No. 10.
The only other notable debut came from Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten," which came in at No. 19.
In the U.S., "NOW 19" fell to second, followed by Mariah Carey in third, Young Jeezy's "Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101" in fourth, and "Roc-A-Fella Presents Teairra Mari" in fifth.
