Take Ween. Move them to England. Give them an old monophonic synthesizer and one of those ancient Farfisa organs with the cheesy built-in drum machine. Make them listen to 10 CC and Prince albums for weeks on end. Then bring out the recording gear and turn them loose -- but make one of them sing falsetto and the other sing baritone.

We bet you'll end up with something that sounds a lot like their debut full-length Coming on Strong -- an hour of stiffly funky nerd-grooves, deliberately dorky lyrics ("I'm like Stevie Wonder ... but I can see things"), white-boy soul crooning and two-tiered harmonies.

And we also bet you'll think it was worth all that effort.
