Fortune hooks up again with INXS
By JANE STEVENSON, QMI Agency

Former INXS singer and Torontonian J.D. Fortune.

J.D. Fortune’s gig-by-gig relationship with INXS is continuing.

The Mississauga native — who first reunited with the Australia dance-rock veterans for a show at the Olympics in Vancouver in February — will hookup with them again for a July 10 date in Townsville, Australia, the band has announced on their website.

The Armor All Townsville 400 — taking place July 9-11 — is North Queensland’s largest sporting event, features V8 Supercar racing and drew 168,000 people over three days in 2009.

The July 10 date also marks INXS’s first big gig in Australia since 2007.

Fortune, who won the INXS frontman spot during the reality TV show Rockstar: INXS in 2005, told QMI Agency last year that he said goodbye to his former bandmates in 2007 at an airport, thinking there were still two more legs of the INXS tour to complete. But 10 months later, he realized he was no longer part of the group.

He became penniless and homeless after pouring all of his money into recording a solo album that was released on his website. Eventually, his godparents invited him to stay at their Mississauga home.

More recently, Fortune announced a new unreleased song, One More Day, would be featured in the on-air promotional campaign for a new CBS series — Miami Medical, which debuted on April 2 — and would be part of a new forthcoming solo album.
