Just as they're hitting their commercial peak, I Mother Earth is about to lose its most visible member.

One-named frontman Edwin has decided to leave the popular Canadian band to pursue a solo career, a spokesperson for EMI Music Canada confirmed Monday morning.

The rest of the group will stay together and begin the search for a new lead singer, the spokesperson added.

Reinforcing the apparent amicability of the split, Edwin will stick with I Mother Earth for the duration of the upcoming Edgefest tour, which will run through the summer.
