Pop-opera act Il Divo crooned their way to the top of the Canadian album charts this week.
Il Divo, created by "American Idol" grump Simon Cowell, saw their sophomore album "Ancora" shoot to No. 1 with sales of over 31,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan Canada.
The new release topped the first-week sales of their chart-topping self-titled debut, which sold over 28,000 copies when it surfaced in April of this year.
The soundtrack to the 50 Cent film "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" checked in at No. 2 with 19,900 in sales, while the soundtrack to the popular Quebec reality show "Star Academie 2005" (17,000) fell to No. 3, after premiering on top last week.
Elsewhere in the Canadian Top 10, Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons" fell two spots to No. 4, Diana Krall's "Christmas Songs" climbed two positions to No. 5, the seasonal collection "MuchDance 2006" entered in at No. 6, and the Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business" slipped two notches to No. 7.
The Tragically Hip's two-disc hits set "Yer Favourites" rang in at No. 8, Rod Stewart's "Thanks For the Memories... Great American Songbook: Volume IV" sank three to No. 9, and James Blunt's "Back To Bedlam" rounded out the Top 10.
Other notable debuts included Kate Bush's "Aerial" at No. 13, Kenny Chesney's "The Road and the Radio" at No. 24, Sarah Harmer's "I'm a Mountain" at No. 31, Eurythmics' "Ultimate Collection" at No. 46, Neil Diamond's "12 Songs" and the Beastie Boys' "Solid Gold Hits" at No. 48.
In the U.S., Kenny Chesney debuted at No. 1 with sales of 470,000, followed by the "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" OST in second, the compilation NOW! 20 in third, Neil Diamond in fourth, and Nickelback in fifth.
