Janet Jackson will star alongside Tyler Perry in "Why Did I Get Married?," Variety.com reports.

Perry will write, direct and star in the film adaptation of his stage play of the same name.

Sharon Leal and Jill Scott are also set to star.

The plot focuses on a couple who go away every winter with friends to examine their marriage. Problems arise when one of the women brings along a sexy young temptress.

This is Jackson's first film role since 2000's "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps."

Shooting is set to begin March in Whistler, Vancouver and Atlanta.
