U.K. tab pokes fun at Jagger with 'Mick Aid'
By JAM! Music

Mick Jagger's new solo album has made him the target of ridicule by a British tabloid.

Reuters reports that London's Sun newspaper has launched a promotional campaign dubbed "Mick Aid," aimed at boosting reportedly flagging sales of the Rolling Stones' new solo disc in the U.K.

Anyone who buys a copy of the album is eligible for a button reading: "Mick Aid: I Did My Bit For The Old Git." The paper's entertainment columnist, Dominic Mohan, quipped that he was "trying to save a prehistoric animal from dying out," Reuters said.

Initial British sales of the album totaled 2,324 copies and charted at #82, claimed The Sun, which bought 100 copies of the record to give away to readers. The offer was headlined "Help rescue the legend."
