Jethro Tull
Nice modern title (a nod to the band's website) and dapper gentlemanly look (goateed vocalist/flautist Ian Anderson is barely recognizable shorn on his long mane), but in essence Jethro Tull enters the new century a bit lost. With other art rockers of their genre either showing few signs of life (Yes), rerouting to more accessible pastures (Genesis) or relegated to cashing in as a nostalgia act (Emerson, Lake and Palmer), Tull enters the next century as virtual keepers of the progressive flame. Hence, J-Tull Dot Com can't decide if it wants to revive the past (AWOL), move toward semi-rockdom (the hollow Spiral) or vie for something called commercial accessibility (Bends Like A Willow, the new wavey Dot Com). That decision largely falls on Anderson's shoulders, since his flute-playing is the only thing holding Tull together.
