Rickie Lee Jones isn't the type to get on a soapbox and orate, but her latest album, The Evening Of My Best Day, has the genre-bending singer talking about some heavy issues.
"I suspect any great record that's going to come out in the next few years is going to have something to do with what's happening," the Chicago-born Jones says on the line from New York on her 49th birthday. She is referring to the place of the U.S. in the world today.
