RONAN
By JANE STEVENSON

RONAN
Ronan Keating
(Polydor-Universal)

Dublin singer Ronan Keating, formerly of Ireland boy band Boyzone, strikes out on his own with a decidedly adult-contemporary collection, in stores Tuesday

Keating is the ripe old age of 24 years, so you'd think he might have had a little bit more fun on his solo debut.

Let's put it this way, Robbie Williams, he's not.

Instead, the pleasant-sounding, raspy-voiced Keating sticks mainly with pop ballads, collaborating with various A-list songwriters including Bryan Adams and Pat Leonard (Madonna).

There are a couple of welcome departures such as the gospel-tinged Heal Me and the more uptempo Keep On Walking and Lovin' Each Day, which is the album's first single.

Keating's also already had a huge hit with the song, When You Say Nothing At All, from the Notting Hill soundtrack. It sold half a million copies and is also included here. (More on: Ronan Keating).
