TP.3 RELOADED
Kelly's latest full of dramaBy MIKE BELL -- Calgary Sun
R. Kelly TP.3 Reloaded (Jive/Zomba) R. Kelly's life is an X-rated soap opera -- one that could very well land the R&B star in jail for child pornography. So it's no surprise when it came time to actually write one, he nailed it (no pun intended). The result, a five-part story song titled Trapped In the Closet, appears at the end of the troubled superstar's latest album TP.3 Reloaded and, depending on whether or not you can remove yourself from his real-life drama, it's reason alone to seek it out. In the song's five chapters, Kelly weaves a hardcore, hip hop Harlequin tale of infidelity that has actual intrigue, tension, twists and, naturally, titillation -- all which keeps you involved until the very end. Of course, the remainder of TP.3 features typical R. Kelly fare -- smooth, well produced R&B bootycalls -- with a couple of sure-fire hits here, including the impossible-not-to-bop-to Reggae Bump Bump featuring Elephant Man and Playa's Only with The Game. But, again, if you want drama from a man who's had his fare share of it, skip to the end -- or, better yet, put on the accompanying DVD -- and let it all play out. Track Listing: 1. Playa's Only featuring The Game
