With its shifting time signatures, stop-and-start tempos and raging, instrument-bruising performance style, the musical genre known as math rock is probably never going to top the international charts. But for bands such as Kitchens & Bathrooms, that's not a problem.
"People are either really into it or kind of indifferent to it," says Adrian Murchison, bassist for the Hamilton math rock trio. "Which is fine, because we know that we make music that isn't for everybody. We make music for the three of us, and if other people are into it, good for them.
