Lamb of God makes chart noise
By , QMI Agency

Lamb of God

Metalheads Lamb of God were in like lions on the Canadian album charts this week.

The Virginia-based band's seventh studio effort, "Resolution," made a noisy debut at No. 2 with 8,000 in sales, according to numbers compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

Their last CD, 2009's "Wrath," rung up the same amount at 8,000, but came in on top when it premiered back in February of 2009.

And, in what is typical on the charts these days, it wasn't enough to scare off Adele. Her mega-selling "21" - which is predicted to rake in a lot of hardware at the Grammys on Feb. 12 - was No. 1 for a fifth consecutive week, selling another 14,000 copies.

Her grand total is now 996,000, making her a lock to crack the one million mark in Canada next week.

Speaking of the Grammys, the "2012 Nominees" disc, which is led by Adele and also features the Foo Fighters, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry, checked in at No. 3 with 5,000 in sales.

The Bob Dylan tribute "Chimes of Freedom" spent its first week at No. 4, while Tim McGraw's eleventh disc, "Emotional Traffic," jumped in at No. 5.

Electronic artist Skrillex's "Bangarang" boomeranged into the top 10 at No. 6, multi-instrumentalist Gotye (pronounced "go-tea-yay" for those playing at home) came up seven positions to land at No. 7, and the Black Keys' "El Camino" slipped a few gears, dropping from No. 3 to No. 8.

LMFAO's "Sorry For Party Rocking" dropped five levels to No. 9, and French singer-songwriter Gregoire's self-titled album closed out to the top 10 at No. 10.

In the U.S., Adele was the top dog, followed by Tim McGraw in second, Lamb of God in third, "2012 Grammy Nominees" in fourth, and Ingrid Michaelson's "Human Again" in fifth.
