HYMNS OF THE 49TH PARALLEL
By DARRYL STERDAN

HYMNS OF THE 49TH PARALLEL
K.D. Lang
(Nonesuch/Warner)

Looks like k.d. is feeling a little homesick these days. At least in the musical sense.

Hymns of the 49th Parallel finds the ex-pat crooner reaffirming her roots by delivering sophisticated, orchestrated covers of a slew of CanCon classics: Neil Young's After the Gold Rush and Helpless, Leonard Cohen's Bird on a Wire and Hallelujah, Joni Mitchell's Case of You and Jericho.

Toss in Ron Sexsmith's Fallen for a nod to the kids and k.d.'s own Simple, and you've got a disc so swelled with true patriot love you should be able to buy it with Canadian Tire money, eh?
