Avril 'proud' of Juno noms
By -- Sun Media

Avril Lavigne is thrilled about her recent five Juno nominations, tying with Feist and Michael Buble, and just one behind Celine Dion's six nods.

Lavigne also will perform on the April 6 Junos in Calgary and she took a couple days off from her North American tour just so she could attend Canadian music awards extravaganza.

"We kept two days open for the Junos, so it's a good thing (since), I got nominated for five," Lavigne told Sun Media from a tour stop in Edmonton.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so proud and, of course, I will be there. It's an honour. Being Canadian, the Junos are a big deal for me so that was really cool. Because I'm on tour, I'm going to charter in and do the show and then charter out that night and the next day (April 7) I have a show in Toronto. You know what? It's fun like that. But it is all crazy, here, there, here, there."

Lavigne, who hails from Napanee, Ont., adds that playing in Toronto "is always the highlight for me.

"Toronto shows have always been phenomenal, huge, at the Air Canada Centre, and all my family always goes, my grandma is coming to the show for the first time ever. My parents will be there and stuff and all my relatives and friends 'cause it's kind of like a hometown to me, I guess."
