BOWIE

Zep tops Canadian charts
By JOHN WILLIAMS

If any incentive was needed for Led Zeppelin to reunite, a No. 1 album may prove to be the catalyst.

The legendary rock band's three-disc CD, "How The West Was Won," debuted at the top of the Canadian album charts with sales of 10,900, according to data compiled by Neilsen SoundScan.

The live 3-CD set, taken from two performances in California in 1972, also entered the charts at No. 1 in the U.S., selling over 154,000 copies.

The surviving members of Led Zeppelin -- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones -- have been hinting recently at a possible reunion. They disbanded following the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980.

Elsewhere in the Canadian top 10, the french compilation "Don Juan" (9,500) debuted in second, Sean Paul's "Dutty Rock" (7,600) remained in third, Evanescence's "Fallen" (7,400) moved up one position to fourth, 50 Cent's "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" (6,900) slipped to fifth and Norah Jones's "Come Away With Me" (6,400) held steady in the sixth spot.

Sarah Brightman entered the charts at No. 7 with her album "Harem" (6,300), "The Matrix Reloaded OST" (5,700) sank from second to eighth, Kelly Clarkson's "Thankful" fell two spots to ninth and Avril Lavigne's "Let Go" (5,200) placed 10th.

Of note, The Deftones' self-titled effort, which entered the Canadian charts at No. 1 last week, slid all the way down to No. 15. Staind's "14 Shades of Grey" also plummeted in it's second week, falling from No. 8 to No. 25.

In the U.S., 50 Cent placed second, followed by Evanescence in third, Kelly Clarkson in fourth and Norah Jones in fifth.
