Concert Review: Gordon Lightfoot

Live 8, Barrie - July 2, 2005
Gord's gold 'interlude'
By -- Toronto Sun

BARRIE - The oldest performer on last night's stage -- Gordon Lightfoot is 66 years old -- did Canada proud alone on stage with his gentle, three-song, acoustic set of folk music.

However, he got a decidedly mixed response from the more youthful audience, except for his classic If You Could Read My Mind.

One guy pushed past me saying, "He's 76 years old!" While another yelled at him: "You're the show, Gord!" Lightfoot, meanwhile, seemed to sense that he may have been slightly out of his element. "It's real nice to be part of this show. Everyone's rocking out here. I'll just give you a little musical interlude one more time," he said by way of introducing his last song.

God bless you, Gord.
