Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was hospitalized on Friday in Los Angeles after suffering back and abdominal pains, Billboard.com reports.

Doctors are currently trying to diagnose the cause of the pains.

The injury has forced the band to cancel 12 European dates, beginning with thier June 7 show in Germany, right through to June 22 in Portugal.

Linkin Park are scheduled to take part in the Summer Sanitarium tour July 4 with Metallica and Limp Bizkit. The tour includes two Canadian stops -- July 5 at SkyDome in Toronto, and July 20 at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal.

The band are on thhe road in support of its sophomore effort, "Meteora." It is currently at No. 16 on the Canadian album charts.
