Linkin Park, DMB team up for Haiti
By DARRYL STERDAN, QMI Agency

Some of music's biggest names are banding together to help the people of Haiti.

Linkin Park, Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Dave Matthews Band, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna, Peter Gabriel and Slash have all contributed previously unreleased music to an online benefit album titled Download to Donate.

"Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti," said Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington in a statement Tuesday. "We pray that this initiative provides some relief and support to the survivors and hope we inspire our fans, friends and families to make donations as well."

Fans can download the songs at www.musicforrelief.org and at the artists' websites, and then donate whatever amount they wish.

"We're encouraging people to give what they can," says guitar legend Slash in the statment. "There's no right or wrong amount. The people of Haiti are in desperate need of food, fresh water, shelter and medical supplies and every little bit helps."

All funds received will go directly to the Music for Relief recovery effort, supplying food, water and emergency medical supplies to the Caribbean island nation, which was devastated by a 7.0-magnitude earthquake on Jan. 12. Funds will also go toward creating long-term sustainable housing solutions for victims.
