Album Review: Littrell, Brian

WELCOME HOME
Go Home Brian
By -- Winnipeg Sun

Brian Littrell
Welcome Home
(Reunion/Sony BMG)

Remember that episode of South Park where Cartman starts up a Christian-rock boy band called Faith+1?

And to write songs, he just takes cliche romantic ballads and changes the word 'baby' to 'Jesus'?

Well, guess what: Welcome Home -- the contemporary Christian solo debut from Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell -- is exactly like that.

Except that when Brian sings, "My only wish is to see you, Jesus" and "I can feel the current pulling me deeper and deeper into You," he's not kidding. Which kinda makes it even funnier in a way.

Too bad it doesn't make this batch of cloying, syrupy ballads any more tolerable -- unless you happen to be a Backstreet Boys fan who grew up to be a nun.
