Artist: Mahones

A touch of Irish without the blarney
The Mahones have heard it all before: The fact they sing nothing but Irish songs about drinkin' and carousin'; the inevitable Celtic punk-rock comparisons to Ireland's The Pogues.

"I love Irish music, so I could see our band playing like The Dubliners; you know, having beer bellies, grey beards and sitting on chairs, doing seven drunken nights when I'm 70," laughs vocalist/guitarist Fintan "Finny" McConnell over the phone. "But as for comparing us to The Pogues, who are probably the best band of that genre in the world, it's no big deal."
