LIVERPOOL SOUND COLLAGE

LIVERPOOL SOUND COLLAGE
Paul McCartney
(EMD/CAPITOL)

If you're Paul McCartney, apparently you can release any old damn thing you please.

Hence, Liverpool (Freudian fun fact: The previous word was originally typed in as "Liverpoop"!) Sound Collage, originally conceived as a soundtrack for an exhibition by artist Peter Blake.

Lifted from the context of the exhibit, this ambient soundscape made from a mish-mash of noises -- Beatles' out-takes, music by The Super Furry Animals and producer Flood -- is an annoying exercise in indulgence that wouldn't have seen the light of day without Sir Paul's name attached to it.

The only people the CD of note are those Beatleophiles who appreciate McCartney's art school antics or still get excited about unearthed fab four studio chit chat -- though it's doubtful even they could wade through the layers of electronic pap to find any satisfaction.
