AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT
By DARRYL STERDAN
WINGSPAN: AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT Paul McCartney (Capitol / EMI) Discs: 1. The Main Course: The 90-minute Wings documentary -- featuring old video clips, photographs and lengthy interviews with Paul McCartney -- shown on TV earlier this year. Side Dishes: Live videos for Jet, Let 'Em In and the Rockestra Theme; 20 minutes of interview outtakes in which Paul discusses weighty fare such as birdwatching and whether nutmeg belongs in a Spanish omelette; a photo gallery and discography. Easter Eggs: None we found. Final Verdict: The documentary is worth having -- and being able to search specific clips by year is a nice touch. But there's gotta be better footage in the vaults than what's offered here. And no book? No maybe about it -- we're amazed. (More on: Paul McCartney).
