Back in the late '80s Neal McCoy was The Life of The Party.
Since then, his recording career has been more like a wallflower.
The party is back on in October, when his new project Luckiest Man In The World is released.
"I'm excited about having another shot at it. I'm not a spring chicken anymore and I'm just tickled that Warner is giving us another shot at cutting an album," McCoy tells the Sun.
So why has McCoy been able to stick it out in Nashville, when so many others have not?
"Without sounding egotistical, we put on great shows and we're nice to people. There's a lot of artists who don't do that."
People can check out McCoy's show tonight at the Stampede's Nashville North stage.
He'll also be previewing some of his new "positive feel-good" material at his Calgary show.
"Luckiest Man In the World is the first album I've picked out all the songs. I've never had that opportunity before. If you enjoy what you're singing you do a much better job in the studio with them.
"On every other album there were two, three, four songs I really enjoyed doing. The other stuff I've done because they thought it would work."
