McEntire's 'Annie' to become TV movie
By JAM! Country

Country songbird Reba McEntire will reprise her acclaimed Broadway hit "Annie Get Your Gun" for CBS, Variety reports.

The singer took to the Great White Way in January to star in a revival of Irving Berlin's musical. The move quadrupled the show's ticket sales and earned positive notices, so McEntire has agreed to star in, and executive-produce, a TV version of the show, Variety said.

The show could be ready as early as February, unless the writers and actors strike delays production.

"She's the toast of Broadway right now. You don't see that very often -- someone who defines a role like she has," producer Howard Braunstein told Variety.

Meanwhile, McEntire's dance card is rapidly filling up. She's committed to continue on Broadway until May 27, and she's also developing her own sitcom for the WB Network. (More on Reba McEntire)
