Country superstar Tim McGraw beat out four other new releases for the top spot on the Canadian album charts this week.
McGraw's ninth studio disc, "Let It Go," debuted at No. 1 with sales of over 13,000 copies, according to figures compiled Nielsen SoundScan.
It edged out Good Charlotte's "Good Morning Revival," which slid into No. 2 with sales of just under 8,000.
"Let It Go" marks the second consecutive McGraw album to enter at No. 1 here -- his 2004 release, "Live Like You Were Dying," hit pay dirt when it was released in August of 2004.
He also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling a respectable 325,000 copies of "Let It Go" in the U.S.
Back in Canada, Dallas Green's City and Colour checked in at No. 3 with "Live" (over 7,000), Nelly Furtado's "Loose" remained at No. 4, while Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion" and Neil Young's CD/DVD "Live at Massey Hall 1971" both fell three notches to No. 5 and No. 6.
Young Buck's "Buck the World" and Elton John's "Rocket Man: Number Ones" both premiered and No. 7 and No. 8.
Meanwhile, the heavy new release week meant band news for Modest Mouse. After their big first week at No. 1, the Washington indie rockers slid all the way down to No. 9.
Montreal's Arcade Fire rounded out the top 10 at No. 10.
Other notable debuts this week included Pierre Lapointe's "Pierre Lapointe" at No. 20, Jesse Cook's "Frontiers" at No. 22, Kaiser Chiefs' "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" at No. 26, Stevie Nicks' "Crystal Visions... The Very Best of Stevie Nicks" at No. 37, and The Doors' "The Very Best of The Doors" at No. 45.
In the U.S., the "NOW! 24" compilation placed second, followed by Young Buck in third, Mim's "Music is My Savior" in fourth, and Akon's "Konvicted"in fifth.
