Album Review: Megadeth

KILLING IS MY BUSINESS ... AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!
By DARRYL STERDAN

KILLING IS MY BUSINESS ... AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!
Megadeth
(Loud / Sony)

In 1985, the four horsemen of the speed-metal apocalypse were Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, led by former Metallica axeman Dave Mustaine. Oldsters feeling nostalgic for those metal-thrashin' mad days can revisit them with this remixed 'n' remastered reissue of Megadeth's resoundingly heavy debut album. And why not? The raging abandon and intricate precision of these superbly restored tracks -- anchored by Mustaine's jaw-droppingly fast fretwork and gnashing, Rob Halford-esque vocals -- make today's nu-metal outfits look like the hack mama's boys they are. But be warned: The three bonus demos are nothing to write home about, and their infamous cover of Nancy Sinatra's These Boots got stomped by the legal department, who made Mustaine bleep out all his lurid lyrics. Killing may be Dave's business, but it still ain't as evil as lawyering. (More on: Megadeth).
