After being kicked out of the top spot last week, Metallica returned to No. 1 on the Canadian album charts.
Their latest effort "Death Magnetic" accomplished the feat on sales of 9,600, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
The album has now sold close to 200,000 copies since its release six weeks ago.
Close behind Metallica was Mes Aieux's "La Ligne Orange," which remained at No. 2 with 9,500 in sales.
Sarah McLachlan's "Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan" spent its second week at No. 3, Rise Against's "Appeal to Reason" dropped from its No. 1 slot last week down to No. 4, and T.I.'s "Paper Trails" climbed up one position to No. 5.
Marie-Elaine Thibert's "Un Jour Noel" and Keane's "Perfect Symmetry" debuted at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, while Russell Peters' "Red, White and Brown" slipped one spot to No. 8.
Rounding out the top 10 was Les Cowboys Fringants' "L'Expedition" at No. 9 and Kid Rock's "Rock 'N Roll Jesus" at No. 10.
Other debuts included Ray LaMontagne's "Gossip in the Grain" at No. 13, Lucinda Williams' "Little Honey" at No. 18, and Elvis Presley's "Christmas Duets" at No. 20.
In the U.S., Kenny Chesney's "Lucky Old Sun" came in on top, followed by T.I. in second, Ray LaMontagne in third, Metallica in fourth, and Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album in fifth.
