Milli Vanilli's Fabrice in 'Showerpalooza'
By JAM! Music
Fabrice Morvan, one half of the disgraced Grammy-winning lip-sync duo Milli Vanilli, is hitting the road with something called Malibu Showerpalooza -- a bizarre mixture of karaoke and personal hygiene. Organizers of Malibu Showerpalooza describe the event as "a traveling karaoke show that features a singing booth resembling a shower complete with bathtub and showerhead visuals, complete with steam/soap bubble effects." "Fabrice will be touring the Midwest in search of people who can take life 'less seriously' and enjoy laughing at themselves once-in-a-while. At the same time, the former Milli Vanilli frontman will be proving that he can, too," organizers said in a press release. Morvan roared to the top of the charts with Milli Vanilli in 1988 on the strength of the hits "Girl You Know It's True" and "Blame It On The Rain." The duo later was forced to return a Grammy after it was revealed that they hadn't actually sung their parts on the album and at live shows, and were nothing more than telegenic stand-ins for the real artists. His Milli Vanilli partner, Rob Pilatus, died in 1998 at the age of 32, reportedly after overdosing on drugs and alcohol. "Everyone knows you sound better in the shower, or at least you think you do -- so the combination of karaoke and singing in the shower is certain to be a 'seriously, easy-going' fun time," Morvan said in a press release. Participants in Malibu Showerpalooza can choose from over 500 songs, perform in the shower stall, and receive a DVD recording of their exploits. One lucky winner will get to join Morvan in a duet. The show is coming to neighbourhood bars in Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis and Milwaukee. Morvan also has a solo project, "Love Revolution," due in 2002, the announcement said. |
