Let's play Who Wants To Marry a Canadian Rock Star.
Our special guest this week is Kim Mitchell, whose classic songs define the experience of being young in Canada to create a soundtrack for the real great Canadian cabin party. His latest album is called Kemosabe.
But enough about music.
The 47-year-old musician is looking for a good woman.
Divorced and single for the past eight years, Mitchell recently moved to Toronto, partly to be near his two teenaged sons and partly because he wants to meet some "hot babes." No luck so far, he laments. "A long time ago, getting into music was a way to meet chicks, but when you hit your 30s and 40s, the chicks just go away. They don't even come to the shows any more."
This eligible bachelor makes a decent income - thanks to song royalties and regular cross-Canada tours - he's a devoted father, he's funny and he tends to be extremely candid about what's on his mind. Hey, ladies: if you're interested, come to his show at Red's on March 11.
Meanwhile, Mitchell's answers to the following 20 questions might give you some insight into the man behind the hits:
1. What was the last movie you saw that you loved?
American Beauty
2. What was the first album you ever owned?
Jimi Hendrix, Are You Experienced
3. What was the last book you read?
In the Meantime. It's a self-help book.
4. What's your favourite hangout?
The Orbit Room in Toronto. It's owned by Alex Lifeson of Rush. I go there every Monday to listen to this astounding guitar player, Kevin Bright.
5. Do you have a pet peeve?
Gas prices! Now it costs me $70 to fill up my van!
6. What's your idea of the perfect Sunday?
Hanging out with my children and doing something fun. The three of us will go to a shopping mall, sit down on a bench and play "gee, I'm glad I'm not that guy."
7. What's your favourite junk food?
The Big Extra combo meal at McDonald's.
8. What are your vacation plans?
If I do (make plans), I have a doctor friend in West Palm Beach. I have an open invitation there any time I want.
9. What gadget or gizmo can you not live without?
My electric razor in my van. I shave in my van. I just can't shave at home for some reason.
10. Do you have a hobby or habit that you think would surprise people?
Boating. I could see my second career getting my captain's papers or something like that. Capt. Kim!
11. What's your favourite piece of clothing?
My Calvin Klein jeans.
12. What would you change about yourself if you could?
I'd lengthen my two front teeth and give myself some bangs. I'm bald on top. That's why I wear a hat. It's my cheap hair transplant.
13. Whom do you most admire?
My father.
14. What is your greatest extravagance?
I eat at restaurants too much - four or five times a week, at least.
15. Have you ever been mistaken for another celebrity?
Yes, Guy Lafleur. Walking down the street in Montreal, someone yells out, "Hey, Guy!"
16. Do you have a favourite quotation?
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."
17. What is your greatest weakness?
I probably obsess about the past too much.
18. If you are reincarnated who or what will you be?
A tropical fish, I think. I'm intrigued by the water. I'd like to try another part of the planet rather than up here.
19. If you had to go back in time to live in another decade, which one would you choose?
The time of my grandparents.
20. Name your favourite band that could also be the name of a person.
Van Halen, not recently, but with Sammy Hagar. I thought they were just brilliant.
