Bald and bespectacled Moby recently made headlines talking to SPIN magazine about a brief affair he had with stunning actress Natalie Portman in 2000, saying he incurred "the nerd wrath" of hard-core Star Wars fans given her role as Luke Skywalker's mother in the sci-fi franchise.
He clarified the quote when talking to Sun Media: "I was trying to be funny. I don't think it was real nerd wrath, like there were no death threats."
For now, Moby -- who remains pals with Portman after the affair quickly fizzled out when they realized they would be better as friends -- is single and has no plans to settle down, a term he hates.
"It's funny the language applied to good relationships, like 'settling,' " said Moby. "Settling is a bad word like, 'Oh, I don't like any of the food options, so I guess I'll settle for this.' Or when people talk about a 'serious relationship.' Like normally serious is what you apply to like illness when it's really bad, so it's just weird. So instead of talking about a serious relationship or settling down, I'd rather talk about having a fun, empowering, wonderful relationship that inspired me to go out and do things. As opposed to, 'Oh, well, let's watch TV again.' More like, 'Here we are partners in crime, let's go to New Zealand for a week.' Of course, humble domesticity can be lovely as well."
