Brampton, Ont., is not exactly known as a hotbed of musical talent. And yet the most talked-about band at this year's North By Northeast music festival was a group of affable young Bramptonians called Moneen who have signed an American label deal and are currently in the midst of a triumphant tour.
Moneen may technically be categorized as a punk band, but their intricate music doesn't fit into the classic three-chords-with-attitude definition. For one thing, they have a tendency to go long with both their songs and their titles.
