The '80s hitmaker formerly known as Alf is heading to "Chicago."
Alison Moyet, who enjoyed success as a member of Yazoo and a solo vocalist, is taking on the role of Mama Morton in a production of the musical "Chicago" in London's West End, The BBC reports.
The powerful vocalist, now 40, sold over 20 million records as a member of Yazoo (alongside Erasure's Vince Clarke) and on her own, including the hit album "Alf."
Her character in "Chicago" is the warden of a woman's prison, and she'll perform the show-stopping number "When You're Good to Mama."
"I never even appeared in a play or musical at school so I am really cutting my teeth," she told The BBC. "But the rest of the cast have been very supportive and helpful. I loved the style of the show -- it was dark and sinister and very atmospheric".
Meanwhile, plans have recently been announced for a film version of the Bob Fosse musical, with Rene Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the leads and Kathy Bates in the Mama Morton role.
