Artist: Ms Dynamite


Ms Dynamite, The Streets top Brit noms
Nominations for this year's Brit Awards were revealed in a ceremony at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios yesterday.

Solo hip-hop artist The Streets, and urban newcomer Ms Dynamite are the leading contenders with four nods apiece. Pop Idol competitors Gareth Gates and Will Young, Sugababes, Norah Jones and Pink were all nominated for three awards.

Ms Dynamite wins Mercury Prize
British R&B artist Ms Dynamite has been named the winner of this year's Mercury Prize, the British music award styled after literature's Pulitzer Prize.

The BBC reports the 21-year-old Ms Dynamite won for her album "A Little Deeper," making her the first solo black female artist in the Mercury's 11-year history to win the prestigious prize.
