Mumford & Sons nervous about 'SNL'
By Jane Stevenson, QMI Agency

Mumford & Sons (WENN.COM)

You'd think a band who'd played the 2012 Grammys alongside Bob Dylan wouldn't be nervous about their first Saturday Night Live musical appearance.

But British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons, who will make their SNL debut on Saturday alongside host Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper, The Dark Night Rises), says not so much.

"All of our favourite comedians seem to have come from SNL so we're pretty excited about that but it's also live television so that's pretty terrifying," said frontman Marcus Mumford seated alongside bandmate "Country" Winston Marshall while in Toronto this week to promote the Sept. 25 release of the group's sophomore album, Babel.

So despite acting in the family -- Mumford married actress Carey Mulligan (Shame) this year -- don't expect the group to be involved in any SNL skits.

"I think we're going to slightly see how it goes but I think the concentration is music," said Mumford, whose current comic faves range from fellow Brit Eddie Izzard to American Zach Galifianakis.

Added Marshall, who is obsessed with U.S. comic Bill Hicks: "We all worship comedians, probably I worship comedians as much as footballers. For me they're the two big ones -- comedians and footballers equally."

"We have a shared passion for comedy," agreed Mumford.
