It's the end of the world as Trent Reznor knows it.
At least that's what the Nine Inch Nails frontman hinted at for the concept of the band's new studio album, "Year Zero," which is slated for release sometime in April.
"It could be about the end of the world," he said on NIN's official website.
In an interview with England's Kerrang! magazine, Reznor described the album as a "collage of sound," which is "part of a bigger picture of a number of things I'm working on. Essentially I wrote the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist."
Reznor continued to say that he doesn't care if the album is well received by the music industry, which he hinted is as doomed as the world is purported to be in "Year Zero."
"With this record I feel a lot less concerned about what people think about it - especially the dying record industry," he said in the interview. "I couldn't care less about that right now."
NIN is also set to release a DVD of their last tour, entitled "Beside You In Time," on Feb. 27.
