We were pretty hard on Garry McDonall for that ARIA thing. The local musician was president of the Alberta Recording Industries Association when awards were dispensed in 1999. His band, the Nomads - a cover band - emerged at the top of the winner's list. Embarrassing.
We perhaps failed to mention that the Nomads are a pretty fine cover band, perhaps the best in Edmonton (apologies to the Joint Chiefs, which proclaimed the same thing before breaking up).
