CANNES3

Conspiracy of two bands
By MIKE BELL

It looks like Calgary fans of The Offspring can consider themselves part of the Conspiracy.

According to the band's official website, as well as several Sun sources, the popular pop punk act will be playing a show at the Stampede Corral on July 28 in support of their latest album, Conspiracy of One.

The show is one of three Western Canada dates listed for the tour, which is also scheduled to stop in Edmonton July 29 and Kelowna on the 31st, and will include opening acts Millencolin and Vancouver's The Black Halos.

Since forming in the mid-'80s, the California quartet has become one of the most popular punk bands thanks to a number of crossover singles including Come Out and Play, Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) and Original Prankster.

When The Offspring was in Calgary in December of '99, the group sold out for two nights.

The website reports tickets will go on sale June 9.

In other concert news, Scottish duo The Proclaimers (a.k.a. Craig and Charlie Reid), best known for the hit single I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), are scheduled at the U of C's MacEwan Hall Ballroom on Aug. 2.

Ticket information for that concert will be announced later.
