Move over, Justin Bieber. There's some new heartthrobs taking over the attention of young girls.

British pop sensations One Direction, who first grabbed eyes and ears by being on the U.K. version of the "X-Factor," stormed the charts this week with their debut album "Up All Night," and they are setting records in the process.

The disc, powered by their hit single "What Makes You Beautiful," shot to No. 1 in Canada, selling 35,000, according to data supplied by Neilsen SoundScan.

The results were just as impressive south of the border, where they checked in at No. 1, selling 176,000 copies of "Up All Night" in the U.S.

It marks the first time a British group has hit No. 1 in Canada and U.S. with their debut album.

Back here, Scottish-Canadian Johnny Reid slid in at No. 2 with his latest effort, "Fire It Up" (24,000), and the soundtrack to the Quebec talent show "Star Academie" (22,000) slipped from No. 1 to No. 3.

Adele's "21" dropped two levels to No. 4, Mes Aieux's sixth album "A l'aube du printemps" premiered at No. 5, and Bruce Springsteen's "Wrecking Ball" continued its downward trend, this time falling three to No. 6.

Whitney Houston's "The Essential Whitney Houston" also sank three to No. 7, the Black Keys rebounded two notches to No. 8, Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas" occupied the No. 9 slot, and Lady Antebellum's "Own the Night" shot up 18 positions to No. 10.

In the U.S., Adele placed second, followed by Guns N' Roses "Greatest Hits" in third, Bruce Springsteen in fourth, and the "Passion: White Flag" album in fifth.
